To know Derek was a privilege, he was a kind, thoughtful man always thinking of others, always ready withy a guiding hand and softly spoken advice whether on the bowling green or off. His achievements on the green were more than matched by his popularity off it - everyone who came into contact with him used the same words to describe him - "a perfect gentleman!" His sense of humour was "Chardonnayicly incisive" as those close to him will confirm. Derek will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and particularly by the "Parkside Wednesday Mob".
